Why Stretch?
When most people think of preparation for exercise, they think of wearing the right gear, having comfortable shoes, and making sure they have a bottle of water with them. But there is one crucial step that they are missing out on, one that is great for prevention of health problems, keeps injuries at bay and muscles strong. This step is stretching, and it is one of the most important things that you can do before you start exercising. Its numerous benefits will help you throughout your life.
The Benefits
One of the primary advantages of stretching before you exercise is that it helps you to keep from getting injured. When you don't stretch before exercise, you start out with muscles that are tight and short. If you happen to fall or need to do a motion that over extends the muscle, you will have a greater chance to get hurt. Muscles that are short and tight have a more limited range of motion, and if they are taken outside of this range it can cause a strain or similar injury. People who work in an office setting spend a large portion of their day sitting, which causes their thigh muscles to be short and can lead to lower back pain. If these individuals stretch daily, their muscles will be in better shape and can help prevent back problems.
Additionally, those who stretch have greater flexibility and better muscle tone. Your muscles will have a wider range of motion and help you maintain your figure. Other benefits include better circulation and an increase your muscle strength over time. These benefits make doing it as part of your regular exercise routine a wise choice. There are certain considerations that you should take into account before you start.
How to Stretch
When you stretch before playing indoor sports, you should set up a regular routine that you do. The first step is to get your body warmed up for approximately five minutes before you stretch. This helps your muscles to get ready for the stretching itself. When you do stretch, get at least five to ten minutes in before you start your workout. While you are at work, take a break at the hour, if possible, to just stretch your body for a moment. This will help immensely, and you should start and end your day with at least ten minutes worth. Your indoor cricket game will be better as will your health.
